RESIDENTIAL | House | House MM, designed by Chris Collaris Architects and completed in 2017, is a sustainable and minimalist dwelling in the north of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Working within the tight 60-square-meter footprint of a dilapidated brick house, the architects created a modern and deceptively spacious three-level home that prioritizes natural light, clean lines, and an integrated indoor-outdoor experience. RESIDENTIAL | Cabin | We dreamed of creating a house that could be picked up from the warehouse by the client, installed the same day, and be ready to live, without wasting time on finishing, selecting furniture, kitchens, dishes, and decor. Our new development "TOPOL 27" is just that. We have placed all the functions in one module and you no longer need to assemble a house from separate blocks. There are 5 functional areas in 27 m²: a bedroom, a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom, and a dressing room - a maximum of comfortable space in a minimum area. All this delivers by one truck and simply installs on the foundation. The project uses environmentally friendly and durable materials suitable for active use for daily rent. Solid wood and natural oak veneer are combined with black metal elements. On the floor, wear-resistant and hypoallergenic FORBO Flotex material. A large amount of glass harmoniously connects the interior and natural surroundings. The interior was designed as a one-stop solution for an investment project. Everything you need and nothing more. Each item is placed in its place, has a function, and is an integral part of the interior. The set of the house includes furniture, kitchen, curtains, dishes, cutlery, household appliances, outdoor and indoor lamps, outdoor terrace. All the decoration work is done at the factory, and you just need to put linen on the bed and put towels in the bathroom. Most of the interior items were purchased from chain stores so you can quickly replace them. Expensive materials, stone kitchen countertop by the window, wooden windows, and doors set a premium level of finishing and service, emphasizing the contrast between the wild nature around and the comfortable modern interior. The compact fireplace easily heats the entire space, creates a cozy atmosphere, and can be used for cooking. The exterior is made of black metal and wood. RESIDENTIAL | Cabin | Located in Grydalen, in Norway's Sirdal municipality, Hytte Grydalen is a 75-square-meter off-grid cabin designed by Trodahl Arkitekter. The elongated cabin, completed in 2018, is situated in a protected area without electricity or drainage, and its angular, ship-like form stands in stark contrast to the rounded landscape of the surrounding mountains. The cabin's design prioritizes a connection to nature and a focus on an unplugged, off-the-grid lifestyle. Its off-grid power is supplied by solar panels, providing lighting for the interior. The house is elongated, with a steep-pitched roofline that allows for a full ceiling height and a spacious, open feel within the main living area. The interior is dominated by wood, creating a warm, cozy atmosphere, and features a sleeping loft with an uninterrupted view of the surrounding landscape. Large windows, including glass walls in the living area, bring in natural light and blur the line between indoors and outdoors. In 2014, Carl Hansen & Søn relaunched one of these credenzas, CH825, on the 100th anniversary of Wegner’s birth. When the two roller shutter doors on the Wegner credenza CH825 are slid to one side and behind the interior backing, the interior of the credenza is fully accessible. If the credenza, on the other hand, is closed, the doors form a calm, continuous veneer surface with the vertical grain texture. As a grip, a vertically placed piece of wood is attached through a thin, square steel plate to the solid vertical front edge of the door. The interior of Wegner’s credenza is fitted with a combination of shelves and pullout trays, which as a starting point, provide useful and diverse storage space. These are divided into three compartments, of which the two outer ones have two shelves each and the middle has four pull-out trays. The shelves can be adjusted as needed. The Copenhagen-based firm reimagined the traditional Danish summerhouse, drawing on regional architectural traditions while infusing them with contemporary elements. Built on the footprint of a preexisting house to minimize disruption to the landscape, the new structure respects its tranquil seaside location while offering a serene sanctuary for a family from the city. The design is composed of two interlocking gabled volumes, arranged to create a sense of dynamic flow and to frame stunning views of the beach and the Kattegat strait. A boardwalk flanked by wooden columns and landscaping leads visitors toward the central entrance and a private atrium, which provides a secluded outdoor space. The exterior is clad in cedar wood, chosen for its ability to weather gracefully over time and blend with the natural surroundings. A green sedum roof, coated with various plant species, changes color with the seasons, further integrating the house with the heather-covered hills. Inside, a light, tone-on-tone material palette creates an airy and open feel that bathes the interior in soft, diffused light. Natural Douglas fir planks from Dinesen cover the floors and line the walls and ceilings, creating a tactile connection to nature and a sense of warmth. In the living spaces, brick flooring pays homage to Danish mid-century modern residential design. A sunken living area leads to the minimalist kitchen, anchored by a silver travertine island. Custom built-in storage is seamlessly integrated throughout the house to maintain a clean, clutter-free environment. The home's two bathrooms also emphasize a connection to nature through framed views and the use of natural materials. One bathroom features an outdoor shower area enclosed by the same cedar that clads the exterior, allowing inhabitants to immerse themselves in their natural surroundings.
