"Boggestranda is a revitalized cabin retreat in Eidsvåg, Norway, designed by Rever & Drage Architects. Completed in 2016, the project converted an old building with a simple cellar and ten small rooms into a functional, airy cabin that offers stunning views of the fjord and mountain landscape. The design philosophy centered on retaining the traditional exterior appearance facing the road and village, while opening up the structure to the scenery on the other side. The original building featured a mix of materials, including wood, stone, and corrugated iron. Rever & Drage incorporated this eclectic feel into the new design, adding large glass panels to the south-east wall. This created unobstructed views from the kitchen, sitting, and dining areas. A long window was also added in the loft-style bedroom, allowing for picturesque views when lying in bed. To create a more open and modern living space, most of the interior partitions were removed. The loft and ground floor were combined into a single, open space, while the bedroom was the only room to be preserved. Functional updates were also made, including a tiled area with underfloor heating to dry wet shoes and an insulating wind membrane in the walls to improve heat retention. The existing corrugated iron roof was covered with a new wooden roof. On the west side, a simple covered shelter was added to the original facade, providing a dry space for equipment and creating an additional outdoor area.
