This poignant and inspiring museum of African American history and culture in Washington, D.C. is an eloquent and respectful example of contemporary architecture and social justice. Designed by Adjaye Associates, the museum features a range of exhibitions, research areas, performance spaces, and public amenities, all arranged in a monumental and symbolic design that celebrates and recognizes the contributions, struggles, and resilience of African Americans and their heritage, while challenging and educating the visitors and the society to confront and overcome racism, discrimination, and inequality.
